We understand that new owners are keen to visit their kitten, but they must first have a vet check and initial vaccinations at 9 weeks old.
In the meantime we will send out regular updates on the kittens' progress.
Kittens leave us at 13 weeks, having had their 2nd vaccination and vet check.
Why should Ragdolls not be allowed to roam freely?
Ragdolls are strictly house cats for the following reasons:
They have a very trusting nature and for this reason could easily allow themselves to be taken. This, coupled with their good looks, means that they are an easy target for 'catnappers'.
There are a lot of dangers out there in the form of dogs, foxes and other wild animals, to say nothing of poisons such as anti freeze. One of the biggest threats is, of course, from cars.
They can aquire a number of diseases from other cats, such as HIV (which cannot be vaccinated against) and FeLV.
However - Ragdolls can be given access to a secure garden or else some are happy to accept a harness for strolls with their owners
How big to Ragdolls grow?
Female Ragdolls are usually smaller than males, reaching 8 - 12 lbs, with males reaching 12 to 16 lbs. However these are general guidelines and Ragdolls don't stop growing until they are 3 - 4 years old.
It can be hard to imagine when I kitten is small, just how quickly they will grow. For this reason it is best to buy a large carrier and preferably one with a top opening as these are much easier to use.
How often should Ragdolls be groomed?
Because Ragdolls are semi-longhaired cats, they do not tend to mat if they are brushed/combed on a regular basis, ie twice a week.
This should begin when the kitten is small so that it becomes happy with the experience.
